My Hair Care Routine

I have always had quite thick hair which I suppose is a good thing but it is also quite frizzy which can be super annoying when I want to wear my hair down! For so long now I have been searching for a miracle product that can sort my hair out and make it look shiny and sleek and I finally found it! I was watching a Zoella video a while back and she recommended these Kukui oil shampoo and conditioners from OGX, they are specially designed to defrizz your hair, I wasn't expecting much as I have tried countless amounts of products to calm the frizz and they have never worked. I gave them a go nonetheless and I was pleasantly surprised!

The shampoo and conditioner are £4.66 from Boots which is more than I would usually spend on hair care products, but it is definelty worth it. You have to be careful with the amount that you use though because I used a normal amount when I was first trying these out and my hair went very oily very quickly, but if you use about as much as two 2 pence coins of the shampoo and then only apply the conditioner on the ends of your hair then its all good. By doing this I find the products can last for a very long time and my frizz is still under control. These products are paraben free and not tested on animals which is awesome!

After I have showered I dry my hair with a towel and then apply one of the three products above, sometimes when I know I am going to use heat on my hair I spray the VO5 Heat Protect Styling Spray, and when I am having a heat free week I will apply the Trevor Sorbie Frizz Free Smoothing Spray and the Avon Advanced Technique Straight Spray. I brush all these products through may hair with my Tangle Teaser, which I recently just got and I am LOVING by the way and then just leave my hair to dry naturally.

I hoped you enjoyed reading this weeks blog post, if you have any questions please leave them below I love hearing from you all, also I have been really loving Pinterest lately so if you want to see what I am pinning then I would love if you would give me a follow: Lucy2216

Until next time! Lucy xx

Healthy Banana Cookie Recipe

Although a lot of the time I try to eat whole foods, lots of healthy salads and good stuff like that, sometimes you just need to have something naughty...that's actually healthy at the same time. Although the ingredients in these biscuits are all really good for your body, they are definitely something that is still a treat as the coconut oil can make it quite fattening. But they are super yummy and tastes much more interesting than your ordinary cookie with naughty processed ingredients.
Ingredients:
♡ 1 cup of rolled oats
♡ 1 cup of oat flour
♡ 1/2 cup of dates
♡ 1/4 cup of water
♡ 1 tbsp of coconut oil
♡ 1 tsp of peanut butter
♡ 1/4 cup of ground almonds
♡ 2 tsp cinnamon
♡ 1 very ripe banana
♡ 1/4 cup of raw cane sugar/coconut sugar

1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius

2.  Put all the dry ingredients into a large bowl, blend the dates with the water into a blender (I used a Nutribullet) and then add the blended dates to the dry ingredients. Mash up the banana and add that as well.

3. Use a wooden spoon to mix up all the ingredients until you get a slightly wet cookie mixture.

4. Take small handfuls of the cookie batter and mold them into cookie sized circles. Place them on a baking tray lined with grease proof paper (so you don't have to use any oil/butter) and place the cookies on the tray. You can bunch up the cookies quite close together as they wont expand. Put them in the oven for 10 minutes

6. Take them out of the oven and leave them to cool for a while, they are really delicious to eat warm with a glass of almond milk (which is what I did and I had a great time!)

What I Eat In a Day (1)

My diet has changed a lot recently, I've not really been craving junk foods as much as I used to and I've been really enjoying eating healthier. I have noticed a difference in the way I have been feeling; I hardly ever feel bloated, I don't get stomach aches anymore and my energy levels have generally been higher. I thought I would share with you what I ate in a normal day because I know a lot of people are interested in this kind of thing! :)
10:00am
I got up quite early this morning... well early for the summer holidays anyway. The mangoes had finally ripened so this morning I felt like having a smoothie, I added 1 mango, 2 oranges and filled the rest up with some water and ice to hydrate my body in the morning after sleeping.

11:00am
For a little snack I had a Cocoa Oat Trek bar. These are really great because it feels like your having a naughty chocolaty snack but it's actually good for you. It's vegan and has 9 grams of protein so basically... I'm in love with these!
♡ Sustainable Sourced
    ingredients
♡ Vegan
♡ Gluten Free
♡ Wheat Free
1:00pm
I don't usually have bread but today I was just in the mood for it, it used sunflower seed and chia bread, toasted it and added some houmous, cucumber and spinach. It was really nice, the houmous and the bread tasted great together (the bread was vegan by the way)

3:00pm
Dates are my absolute favourite thing to snack on, they are quite calorically dense, I think there is about 22 calories in each one so they do fill you up. They are also really sweet so they stop me from grabbing something unhealthy.

5:00pm
For Dinner my Nan made me some roasted vegetables, she put sweet potato, leeks, tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms and peppers on a baking tray and drizzled some oil over them. That cooked in the oven for about 30 minutes on a low heat, then I put a big handful of spinach on the side to add some greens in there.
8:00pm
I like to have a cup of tea some time in the afternoon, today I had Peppermint and Licorice tea by Pukka. It had more of a minty taste than a licorice taste, I have a sweet tooth so I thought the licorice would make it sweeter but it really wasn't that sweet, although I like mint so it still enjoyed it!

Courgetti Spaghetti Salad Recipe

Hey guys! I recently bought a spiralizer and I have been having a lot of fun with it...maybe a little bit too much fun.. I mean I am literally spiralizing everything I eat :o. Anyways today I thought I would share with you my Courgetti Spaghetti Salad Recipe!
Ingredients:
♡ 1 courgette
♡ 1/4 cucumber
♡ handful of spinach
♡ handful of kale
♡4 cherry tomatoes
♡ 1/2 avocado

1. Okay lets get started, so you want to cut the ends of your courgette and pop that into your spiralizer. Do the same with the cucumber and put them onto your plate or your bowl (I don't know what your into). I honestly love doing this, it creates these amazing courgette noodles and for some reason makes them taste nicer...probably just a figment of my imagination but non the less they are awesome!

2. Now for the toppings, I am using spinach, tomatoes and avocado because they are yummy! Also I just learnt today that spinach is part of the 'Dirty Dozen' which are the top 12 foods contaminated with pesticides, here is a link to the website so you can read more if you are interested. I will have to try and persuade my dad to buy organic spinach from now on...wish me luck!
3. This is where its gets exciting, hold onto your hats! We are going to make some kale chips to top the salad with! I know crazy times! So to do this you are going to need to set your oven to 180°C and put about a handful of kale onto a baking tray lined with baking paper, so it doesn't stick. Add a pinch of salt to flavor and leave them in the oven for 3-5 minutes, keep an eye on them and make sure they don't burn.

4. Then just pop the spiralized veggies onto a plate, then add the chopped up toppings and kale chips and your done!! I am eating this as I am writing this post and after taking the pictures I added a bit of balsamic vinegar which just brings out all the flavors and makes it taste A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!

Seriously try this recipe it tastes so good! If you do make it tag me in a picture on Instagram or Twitter. As usual if you have any questions or blog post requests don't hesitate to put a comment below, I love hearing form you guys. See you next time :)

Liebster Award

Thank you Neena&Nique for nominating me for a Liebster award!

These are the rules for anyone who gets nominated:

♡ Thank and link the blogger who nominated you
♡ Post an image of the award  on your page
♡ Answer the 11 questions that the blogger who nominated you has asked
♡ Link 5-11 blogs that have less than 200 followers
♡ Create 11 questions for them to answer
♡ Notify the blogs via their social media sites

1. What makes you want to blog everyday?
Just the fact that if I am ever down I know I can sit at my computer and plan and write blog posts and interact with other bloggers and it instantly switches my mood!
2. How old is your blog?
I've been on blogger since July 2014 so just over a year now.
3. How do you see your blog 5 years from now?
I will probably upload the same sort of content: food, beauty, fashion, fitness. Hopefully I will have a bigger audience but honestly I don't mind as long as enjoy blogging as much as I do now.
4. What is your favourite beauty product?
It would have to be my All-In-One Face Base by The Body Shop, it is a pressed powder that comes with a flat sponge. I use the sponge to cover an blemishes (which it does really well btw) and then I use my Eco Tools Blush Brush to cover the rest of my face.
5. What is best shopping store?
This is a hard one...but I would have to say my all time favourite shop is Holland and Barrett, but for beauty products I love The Body Shop and Lush.
6. Whats your favourite thing to do when your upset?
Eat chocolate. But if I have no chocolate then I like to watch some TV to take my mind off it, at the moment my favourite things to watch are 90210, PLL and Made in Chelsea LA.
7. If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice. what would it be and why?
I would probably say to not sweat the small stuff and just have as much fun as possible, because all the little squabbles you have with your friends will seem so hilariously pointless in a few years time.
8. What did you do for your last birthday?
Not much, I was in school so my class sang me happy birthday, my friends gave me presents and I handed out cake. I didn't want much of a fuss this year.
9. Share your hair care secret?
NO HEAT!! I used to use straighteners everyday on my hair and it got to the stage where it was so damaged that I had to use heat or it would look a mess. One day I just completely stopped using heat and now I can just wear my hair down everyday without worrying.
10. Which perfume/cologne is your secret weapon?
My Shea Body Mist from The Body Shop, because it's a mist and not a perfume it is much more subtle. It's a soft vanilla-ish scent, i'm really bad at explaining smells but if your ever in The Body Shop give it a sniff.
11. Tell us something nobody knows about you?
I am really scared of dying, dying eventually not right now. I am slowly starting to accept it but every now and again I will be like "OMG, One day I am just not going to be here :0". It's weird but that's just what goes on in my brain.

I nominate Eleanor Smith, Charlotte Price, EJ Curtis, Chloe Marie and Ellen Smith to do this tag next!

My 11 questions for them:
1. What made you start a blog?
2. What is your favourite film?
3. If you could live on one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
4. Where is your favourite place on the earth?
5. What is the thing you love most about yourself?
6. If there was one thing you could change in the world, what would it be?
7. What is your biggest fear?
8. What are your favourite TV programmes at the moment?
9. Who is the person you trust the most?
10. If you could switch bodies with one celebrity, who would it be?
11. What is your ideal day?

Would You Rather Tag: Beauty Edition

1.) Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lip glosses or lose all of your palettes and eye shadows?
I'd rather loose all of my mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lip glosses because I not really that into lip products but I love eye shadows!

2.) Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
Ahh, this one is really difficult :O probably never be able to cut it again, because then at least you can put it in a messy bun or a plait, that's better than no hair at all.

3.) Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
Coral cheek definitely, I think it suits my skin type better, I don't tend to use much blush anyway.

4.) If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
Clothes, no doubt about it. I absolutely love clothes, makeup runs out eventually anyway.

5.) Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?
Wow that's hard! If I had a black lipstick I guess I could make it work as an eyeliner, but I'm not very good at applying eyeliner at the best of times  so it would probably end up looking like a mess haha.

6.) Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
Well I know MAC tests on animals so probably Sephora.

7.) Would you rather only use one eye shadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?
One lip colour, that's pretty much what I do now. I should probably be more experimental with my lip products but I don't think I suit anything too bold.

8.) Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?
Well...that's a difficult one, I love wearing comfy jumpers in the winter, but then I also hate being overheated. So...no comment.

9.) Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?
Light nails of course, I have quite a light skin tone so lighter colours tend to suit my better. Pastels are my absolute favourite shades to paint my nails with, especially pastel blue!

10.) Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?
My favourite lip product is Vaseline haha so that could easily be replaced by pretty much any lip balm!

11.) Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?
Ponytail. I wear my hair like that most days, my hair has never looked that brilliant in a messy bun because it's quite long so it ends up looking like a really big bun.

12.) Would your rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?
Easy one, never use lip gloss. I never really liked lip gloss anyway, it's sticky and looks to slippery. Sounds weird but it's kinda true. :)

13.) Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?
Sharpie them in everyday!! Have you ever seen those pictures when they Photoshop the eyebrows off celebrities, it makes them look so different!

14.) Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?
Nail polish, no wait makeup, no wait nail polish, ahh I don't know that's such a hard one! If I had clearer skin then I would live without makeup.

Tips To Start Eating Healthier

When I became more conscious about what I was putting in my mouth a method that helped me a lot was keeping a food diary. I was always a healthy person but when I started to write down what I was eating it turns out I wasn't quite as healthy as I thought! My main problem was my snacks, they were shocking, so I decided to get my act into gear and bought these really cute food diary pages from Esty to put in my school planner. I highlighted all the healthy foods I ate that day in green and all the unhealthy foods in pink, slowly I would start to increase the amount of green and decrease the amount of pink. It made me more aware of what I was eating throughout the day as I knew I would have to write it down, it really helps you get into the routine of healthy eating and making healthier choices.

At school or work it's easy to just eat whatever is convenient or pinch a bit of what the person next to you is having, it may not so seem so bad at the time but it all adds up! Packing healthy snacks in your bag is a great way to stop those naughty cravings. Usually around 11 o'clock my stomach would growl and I would start fantasizing about chocolate, but after I ate my healthy snack the craving would disappear and it turns out I was just hungry. Fruit is great for snacking but there are also a lot of snacks you can buy from the shops as well, I have written a blog post about some of my favourites here.

It's also important to eat enough so that you feel satisfied to avoid raiding the kitchen for biscuits. If you are eating a plant based diet you naturally have to eat more to ensure you are getting enough calories, I have made this mistakes in the past where I didn't eat enough so those cravings always found a way to creep back in. If your not eating a plant based diet I would recommend eating more fruits and veggies to help fill you up! If you eat until your full you will suppress the cravings, in a week or so you won't have them anymore and it wont be so difficult. The saying is 'the more you eat, the more you crave' and its just so unbelievably true!

Usually when I feel myself slipping of the bandwagon I watch 'What I eat in a day' videos on YouTube, they are so so motivating and their enthusiasm just inspires me to continue eating healthy. Some of my favourite people to watch are:
♡ Rachelleea

Thanks for reading, I hope you found this useful and as usual if you have any questions or blog post suggestions then just write me a comment below! Byeeee have a nice weekend :p

A Little Update

Hi guys, I just thought I would update you on whats going to be happening to my blog in the next year. Okay so next year is a big year for me as I have my GCSE's, although I will be spending a lot of time concentrating on revising for my exams, I don't want to neglect my blog at the same time.
Blogging is something I really enjoy doing so I am going to make time for it, I want to get some sort of blogging scheduled going on so I know exactly when to upload and ypu guys kow when to expect a post, I don't want to end up posting loads of posts one month and then non the next. This will be hard because when I write a blog post I am always really excited to put it up but I will just have to learn to wait! I will be posting twice a month, I know it doesn't seem like a lot but it takes me a while to create a post that I am proud to upload so twice a month seems reasonable to me, they will be uploaded every Friday on the first and third weeks of that month, let me know what you think and if this seems like a good idea to you guys.

Quinoa Salad Recipe

Ingredients:
 1/2 cup of quinoa
 1 cup of boiling water
 a handful of spinach
half a can of kidney beans
 1/4 of a cucumber
 a handful of cherry tomatoes
 4 baby corn cobs
 a handful of blueberries

1. To start with I put 1/2 a cup of quinoa with 1 cup of boiling water into a small pan, I let that simmer for about 10 minutes or so until all the water was adsorbed.

2. Meanwhile I chopped up some cucumber, tomatoes and corn. When the quinoa has finished cooking I added all the chopped ingredients and 1/2 a can of kidney beans to the pan and mixed it all up.

3. Lastly I just popped some spinach into a bowl and placed the quinoa on top before adding some blueberries.

This recipe is really delicious and full of great fresh ingredients that your body will love. It's a really easy recipe to make and you can swap out any of these ingredients to suit you, if you have any questions or blog post suggestions then just leave a comment below :)

My Top 5 Healthy Snack For On The Go

Recently I went on my D of E Silver Expedition so I was looking for some healthy snacks to take along with me. I went straight to Holland and Barrett to see what they had and these are some of my favourite snacks that I decided to pack. They gave me something to look forward to and kept me motivated during the tiring days of hiking.

Propercorn Sweet Coconut & Vanilla - This was a really yummy snack but it was definitely a treat for me as I don't think this flavor contained the healthiest ingredients, however the health benefits were the last thing on my mind when we were in the middle of a field and it was pouring down with rain. Although it was really tasty, I would probably not buy these again as I have been trying to eat more of a plant based vegan diet lately (which has been challenging at the least!) For people who are not vegan and are just looking for a yummy snack these are a good choice.

9bar flax energy bar - This didn't taste how I expected actually, I expected a oaty flapjack sort of bar, but it tasted kind of nutty and seedy, a lot more wholesome than I thought it would be. If I am being honest I was a bit put off a first, but after a few bites I really started to enjoy the different flavors. I have discovered a new love for 9bars and will be buying them in the future as a quick on the go snack.

Banana Chips - These are my favourite snack out of all of the ones I picked for my trip. They are perfectly crunchy and are sprinkled with coconut sugar instead of white processed sugar which is really great and guilt free. All my friends really loved these and they cheered us all up. Nothing more to say than they are so tasty and I beg you to try them if you ever see them.

NatureCrops Quinoa Bar Strawberries & Dark Chocolate - This bar was quite nice, not amazing and I probably wouldn't buy it again but it was good for what I wanted as it was a good source of carbohydrates which gave me enough energy to keep going. It is not that is wasn't nice, just that it wasn't interesting enough.

ClearSpring Fruit On the Go Apple & Mango - I absolutely love these, they taste amazing and they are also just so cute. They take me back to when I was in primary school and I would have little yogurt pouches in my lunch box, except now its fruit not yogurt which is a much healthier option. They are 89p each from Holland and Barrett which I think is a really reasonable price to pay for these yummy fruity treats (although they are not really a treat because they are healthy for you!)
